Pivot-Tech Development · Internal Testing Portal

Pivot Connect

A community-driven advertising platform that turns local engagement into broadband credit. This portal is for the Marketing and Product team to test the dashboard and mobile-preview ahead of launch.

Welcome to the testing cohort

You've been given access to Pivot Connect's admin dashboard. The platform is in active build — what you're testing is the staff-facing console that Pivot's Marketing team will use to manage Sponsors, Chambers, Campaigns, and Creatives, plus a mobile preview that shows how subscribers will experience the offers.

This is real software running on real infrastructure. The data you create persists. Treat it like a production environment with one exception: nothing you do here is visible to anyone outside Pivot-Tech, so feel free to experiment.

What you'll do this week: Log in, create test Sponsors and Campaigns, upload sample creative images, view the result in the mobile preview, and report anything that doesn't work as expected.

How to log in

You received an email from Jim with three credentials:

First-time setup (one-time, about 3 minutes)

  1. Open an authenticator app on your phone — Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password, Microsoft Authenticator, or any TOTP app you already use.
  2. Add a new account using manual entry (not QR code). Name it Pivot Connect and paste the TOTP secret string from Jim's email.
  3. The app will start showing a 6-digit code that changes every 30 seconds.
  4. Click Log in to Dashboard below.
  5. Enter your email and temporary password.
  6. When prompted for the 6-digit code, copy it from your authenticator app.
Heads up on timing: The 6-digit code rotates every 30 seconds. If you see the code is almost rotating, wait for the next one — pasting a code with only a few seconds left can fail mid-login.

What to test

Pivot Connect has four core entities. Spend time creating examples of each and walking through the relationships between them.

Sponsor

A local business that wants to advertise. Each Sponsor has a tier (partner / champion / founding) and a category.

Chamber

A Chamber of Commerce in a specific market. Sponsors are typically Chamber members.

Campaign

A specific advertising effort by a Sponsor. Has a status (draft → active → paused → ended → archived), an action type, and a budget.

Creative

The actual image, headline, body, and call-to-action that gets shown. Belongs to a Campaign.

The happy-path walkthrough

  1. Log in. You'll land on the Tenants screen — Pivot-Tech should be the only one listed.
  2. Click Sponsors in the top nav. Create a new Sponsor with realistic details (use a fictional but plausible business name, e.g., "Main Street Coffee").
  3. Click Chambers. Create a Chamber for a market that interests you (try Kendall County IL, Lewiston ID, or Hermiston OR).
  4. Click Campaigns. Create a Campaign attached to your Sponsor. Note that new Campaigns start in draft status — that's intentional.
  5. Edit the Campaign and change Status to active. Try changing it back to draft — you should see a clear error explaining why that's not allowed.
  6. Click Creatives (coming Friday). Upload an image and add headline/body/CTA text.
  7. View the result in Mobile Preview (coming Friday) — this is what a real subscriber would see on their phone.

Testing guide

A detailed walkthrough with every field explained, the system's known constraints, and the parts that are intentionally not built yet.

If the link above doesn't work yet, the testing protocol will be available Friday. Until then, work through the happy-path walkthrough above and feel free to explore.

Report a bug or share feedback

If something doesn't work, looks wrong, or could be better, please report it. We're using a Google Form to collect feedback in a structured way so we can triage and respond efficiently.

What makes a useful bug report:
  • Which screen you were on
  • What you were trying to do
  • What you expected to happen
  • What actually happened
  • Your browser and operating system (e.g., "Chrome on macOS")
  • If a screenshot helps, attach one

For urgent issues (e.g., you can't log in), Slack-DM Jim directly. Otherwise the form is preferred so nothing gets lost.

What's intentionally not built yet

Pivot Connect is a phased build. The dashboard you're testing is Phase 2. Several things you might expect aren't here yet — that's by design, not a defect. Don't report these as bugs:

If any of these would be valuable to have now rather than later, mention it in the feedback form — Phase 3 priorities are still being shaped.
